Starting to line up bulkheads

Looks like dad started to set up some bulkhead alignment jigs before he had to work this weekend – so the boat will most likely sit like this until I’m back in Texas and (hopefully) able to put some work in.

You can see that the main cabin bulkhead isn’t quite below the alignment board at the keel; dad says that the only part that needs to get trimmed on the bulkhead is the portion that doesn’t get taped anyway and is only there to hold shape before cutting out the storage hole. The forward bunk bulkheads need a little sanding where the keel turns, most likely because I was a little outside the original trim line since everything else is looking so good on the shapes.

The transom is angled and glued into place, and a jig was built to hold the stern deck in place. Just need to finalize the position since the alignment lines are on the other side of the bulkhead and then it can be glued and taped together as well. The aft bulkhead is glued as well and so is the angled “window” bulkhead that joins the aft bulkhead with the aft cabin deck.

Looking at all this, I think the hull needs a solid 8-16 hours of work before it’s ready to remove from the frames (after curing, of course). This has me feeling REAL home-sick right now since I should have been working on the boat yesterday and today. Hopefully I can take some time off from work for pulling all these 10-12 hour days for the past 2 months with hardly any days off (including weekends)… Ok… I’m done whining… Back to dreaming of a boat that’s assembled and sailing 😉
