Sanding starboard float deck and making port float deck

Took more of the larger offcuts and started laying them out for the port float deck

These were bogged together, sanded and then an outline of the float and areas that required HD foam marked out and put in place.  Dad is off to the side making some more tapping blocks for the front pad eye by laminating together scrap fiberglass cloth.

The remainder of the time today was spent sanding the top surface of the starboard float deck and rough-trimming the deck into place. It’s looking much more like a boat now.

Next time the starboard float should be ready to attach and shape the bow cap. These were made from scrap foam glued together with contact cement.

Once the bow cap is on the starboard float and shaped, only a few minor things left to do and it will be ready for external laminating and fairing.

It’s sad and funny that the only pages left to complete the floats are Appendix B (making float decks, which should actually be finished next weekend if all goes well) and Page 7. Page 7, I fear, we might be on for a few weeks depending on how shaping the port float goes and how our laminating and fairing skills go on the part that matters (what is seen!)
