Main hull bulkheads part 3
Just dropping in for a mid-day update while I wait for the bog-filler to dry enough to make some good fillets and then tape the settee bunk and aft cabin forward bulkhead.
Here’s the settee bogged in place – still need to put a real fillet on and tape top and bottom

Main hull bulkheads part 2
Had a real productive evening. Finished taping the forward beam bulkhead, positioned and bogged the forward bunk half, bogged and taped the main cabin bulkhead, bogged the cockpit floor and taped the cockpit floor to the aft beam bulkhead. Tomorrow going to Finish bogging and tape the cockpit floor, tape the forward bunk half and hopefully get the aft cabin floor in place.
Have the first side laminated of the settee bunks and the aft cabin front.

Main hull bulkheads part 1
Started putting main hull bulkheads in this weekend. I spent the entire weekend sick (severe allergies or mild flu, not sure which) — Sunday was wasted as I slept until 6pm (ack!) but Saturday we got a good amount of work done on the boat. I’ll come back and edit this whenever I can fix the gallery integration, for now I’m just going to have to link to the pictures. My apologies.

Site issues
Well, I ran into a problem uploading my last batch of pictures and hit a wall where it would no longer generate thumbnails…
I was hoping it would be a “simple” issue of updating the gallery… but that links into the blog… and that links into the embedded code…
Simply put, it’s 3am, we’ve got some bulkheads in and cured, and I’m very tired now trying to fix this issue… Will try again tomorrow at some point while waiting for epoxy to cure

Starting to line up bulkheads
Looks like dad started to set up some bulkhead alignment jigs before he had to work this weekend – so the boat will most likely sit like this until I’m back in Texas and (hopefully) able to put some work in.
You can see that the main cabin bulkhead isn’t quite below the alignment board at the keel; dad says that the only part that needs to get trimmed on the bulkhead is the portion that doesn’t get taped anyway and is only there to hold shape before cutting out the storage hole.

Beam bulkheads and bow web
Dad vacuum bagged the forward beam bulkheads and bow web today

Trimmed and ready for bulkheads
I swear, dad must be working on the boat just to see if I’m paying attention to the occasional web-cam picture while I’m in San Francisco 🙂
Looks like I see one or two alignment jigs across the battens which means he might start putting some bulkheads in soon…

Updated main hull picture
Here’s the main hull half fully laminated. You’ll notice some areas of fabric that were not wet-out – these will get trimmed off as there it plenty of over-lap and it was easier to do after cured then before.

Finished laminating first main hull half
Was able to come home for a few days this weekend and at the last minute had some time to head down to the shop and see what could be done. Thanks to dad’s efforts bogging and sanding, we were able to do some minor prep-work and then get to laminating the remainder of the inner skin.
Here I am wetting out the deck area. It was real nerve-racking a few times trying to find a place to step that my weight wouldn’t just push through while at the same time not plopping myself in a puddle of epoxy.

Main hull half ready to laminate
Looks like dad finished bogging the main hull half – it’s ready to finish laminating the inside –
