More work on port half of main hull

Port side of the main hull is now planked and partially bogged. Of course, another cold-snap with temperatures in the 30’s, so the bog was still tacky the next afternoon and we were not able to sand it.

At the time of this writing, we now have a full roll of B spec cloth, but it wasn’t there this weekend, so even if the bog cured enough to sand, we wouldn’t have been able to do much. If you notice the FedEx tube to the right of the picture, that means the C spec cloth I ordered came in. We’ve been using B cloth turned 45 degrees, but it’s quite wasteful and in some uses I think it’s more trouble than it’s worth.

I have to disappear back to San Francisco for a while with work, so if anything happens on the boat it’s going to be more bogging and sanding by dad so we can (hopefully) laminate it when I get back in town (maybe 2 weeks?).

It’s starting to take shape now and becoming more of a “reality” (like what the hell are we thinking?! :)) – this is going to be quite a large “little” boat!

EDIT – also should note the keel is sanded flush with the batten now; so everything is done from the keel to the gunwale and ready to finish glassing up to the deck.  Still need to put in the HD foam on the deck and then start placing bulkheads.  You’ll also see a (slightly shaky) water-line drawn on the hull.  Everything looks completely wrong and awkward when drawing it, but I followed the laser and it came out right like it should – the external line (if we decide to paint something below the WL) will be much better since it will show.
